Campaign Story
* Typical cost of capstone projects (including registrations, travel and supplies) is about $1200.
* I am trying to raise $600 as family and school will cover the rest.
Goals for My Fundraiser:
Supporting my capstone project
*** I plan to pursue the project though participation in TSA activities like competitions and community service. ***
The Technology Student Association (TSA) is a national Career and Technical Student Organization (CTSO) that helps students explore STEM through hands-on projects, competitions, and leadership opportunities.
What is ‘Tech Outreach Mentorship Program’
A non-profit initiative to create a mentorship program that teaches coding and digital literacy to underprivileged youth.
Why I am pursuing this project (My why)
- I am a ‘Relationship Builder’ personality type person with strong ‘advocate’ business potential.
- I’m really into making cool tech stuff and awesome games, and I want to use these skills to help people. I’ve decided to lead a project for a non-profit that’s all about tech. This way, I can use my passion to support those less fortunate with important programs..
My plan of action: Competitions and Activities
Career Technical Student Organizations (CTSOs) to join:
TSA (Technology Student Association) – Focuses on technology and innovation competitions, offering hands-on experiences in tech assembly and project management, and is the primary CTSO aligned with tech projects.
FCCLA (Family, Career and Community Leaders of America) – Emphasizes leadership, community service, and advocacy skills, which are essential for managing non-profit initiatives and promoting social welfare.
Competitions
This introductory competition promotes coding, problem-solving, and digital project development, aligning with the Tech Outreach Mentorship Program by building essential technical skills.
TSA – TSA Senior Solar Sprint
This advanced competition challenges students to innovate with renewable energy technology, complementing earlier technical learning and promoting sustainability themes relevant to community outreach.
This introductory competition builds creativity, presentation, and project planning skills in a context that is teen-friendly, supporting overall development and complementing tech mentorship by emphasizing clear communication and systematic organization.
This advanced competition advances organizational, budgeting, and consumer education skills, further preparing the student to manage complex projects and community programs.
Community Service:
Tech Mentorship Workshop
Why it fits: This community service activity directly supports the Tech Outreach Mentorship Program by engaging local youth in technology and digital literacy, while reinforcing skills learned through competitions.
Implementation: Organize free coding and tech skills workshops at a community center in zip code 30084 during the Spring semester of Year 1, with follow-up sessions to build community capacity and mentor younger students.
Skills Development: Leadership, communication, technical proficiency, mentorship
